PEI Driver's Abstract: How to Request Your Prince Edward Island Driving Record

The short answer

PEI driver's abstracts come from the Highway Safety Division of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. The province's request form states the cost is $25 per abstract, paid by Visa or Mastercard. You can request one through the province's online Request for Driver's Abstract service, or fill in the paper form and fax or email it to Highway Safety Records.

The abstract is mailed to your PEI address on file, or picked up at an Access PEI location by you or the person you name, with photo ID. It is never sent by email. The province does not publish a processing time.

Who can request it

Only the licence holder can request a PEI driving record abstract, because it contains personal information. Each person needs their own signed application. If someone else's credit card pays for it, the cardholder must give written consent.

How to request

Online

The Request for Driver's Abstract service on eServices PEI lets you fill in the request online, optionally pre-filling it from a MyPEI account. You choose either pickup at an Access PEI location or mail. Mailed abstracts go to the PEI address recorded in your file. Photo ID is required at pickup.

Paper form by fax or email

The Highway Safety Division's Request for Driver Abstract form asks for:

• your full name as it appears on your licence, date of birth and phone number
• your PEI driver's licence number
• your last two PEI addresses
• Visa or Mastercard details (the form says debit is not accepted)
• the purpose, if it's for employment, insurance or exchanging your licence

Delivery options on the form

• Mail to your last known PEI address on file
• Fax directly to an employer, insurance company, Highway Safety or a government department
• Pickup by the person you designate, with a driver's licence or government-issued photo ID such as a passport

What PEI doesn't publish

The province's abstract pages and forms don't say:

• how many years of history the abstract covers
• exactly what entries appear (convictions, suspensions, collisions)
• how long processing takes

The online request page doesn't show the fee before you fill it in. The $25 figure comes from the Highway Safety Division's request form (marked HSD 2021). Check the total on the request before you pay. For any of these details, call the Records Section.
